… early mornings

This past week, my husband and I sat on the patio working, enjoying the weather, and soaking up the rare Spring mornings that will be over VERY soon.

Witnessing the day “wake up” was pretty sweet.
Between the birds singing, the sky brightening, and the peacefulness of it all was nothing short of perfect.

Then typical Alaina type random thoughts begin to swirl through my head. Amongst the most normal was this one about how every bird has been given a song by God…. whether loved by all or not, still honors God.

Everyday these birds sing the songs that they are given. Loudly. Clearly. with no shame.
Not the songs they wrote or chose for themselves, but ones created and planned especially for them.
By God. The Creator of all things.

These are the songs that honor and bring glory to God – by believers and non-believers alike.

Atheist, apathetic, or someone of a different religious affiliation all delight in the creations of God.
Like the sunrise, the sunset, and the ocean’s waves.
They all attest to the majestic and detailed Creator.

These creations cause wonder. They cause people to stop in their tracks, people are taken by the beauty of the Lord’s imagination.

Each creation tells of the magnificence of God.

There’s almost nothing like it….

Except for you and I.
We are God’s creations… prioritized and loved higher than any other creation.
Even with our sin issues, mistakes, and past that makes us cringe.

We are each given a story. A life planned beautifully, no matter how difficult or tragic is has been or is currently. Our God has given us a life that is meant to honor and glorify Him.

We are each given the ability and power in Jesus to respond to life in such a way that will cause people to draw to you, to taken by you because of the love and light that radiates from you. A love and light that only comes from Christ.

Life doesn’t always turn out exactly how we want it to…. it’s not always a fairytale…. we don’t always get what we want, when we want it. Sometimes, we are honestly dealt a pretty crappy hand.

But, if we have a Christ focused perspective – even the worst of the worst times can point others to Jesus. If it just be our attitude and peace during the situation.

… here’s to trusting God enough to walk quietly beside him, holding (squeezing) his hand along the way.

… it’s not just make up

So, apparently I put my make up on at school on a regular basis. And, much more often than I realize bc a co-worker came into my class & I heard one of my boys (without missing a beat )says, “She’s in the restroom putting on her makeup.” Lol. Which I found hilarious & laughed out loud- as I continued putting on my make up.

Any who, my eyebrow pencil completely ran out on me this morning. I went to roll it up & there was nothing there. Nothing. I was literally confused for a second. Not because I didn’t comprehend what just happened (yes, it’s a big deal) but because I was lost for a second. If you’re a make up wearer, you understand how missing a step in your regimen throws you. It took a minute to decide whether or not to put on eye shadow.

I did. And, moved on.

At that moment the simplest life lesson was solidified – we can move on after a disappointment without losing our minds. We can move on knowing that even when the loss/hurt/broken compact/lost lipstick, life isn’t over.

I know that everything isn’t equitable to a used up eye brow pencil.
But, I do know that what we choose to focus on and believe effects how we live on the other side of that hurt.

I know that some things hurt us to our very core; but, I also know that even out of our deepest hurts can come our greatest growth.

I know that when we focus on our issue instead of our God, we do feel as if there is no hope and nothing past the now. That the issue completely feels as if it cannot be overcome. I know it.

I have to constantly pray through my lowest moments and remind myself of who God is and how much he loves me. Focusing on Him continues to bring me hope and peace even when I’m hurt; I know in that it’s because of Him I have a future and it’s in Him where I find peace & comfort.

Eye brow pencil or not.
Enjoying preferences or going without. Receiving what I want or enduring the wait a bit longer.
Either way, I am loved and provided for. I’m protected and peaceful.

Everything is okay. No matter what. Life moves on and we continue to persevere.

The good news??
When we realize that life will move on and can move on just as wonderfully with or without, going without isn’t (always) hard (every day).

Guys, this is hard. It’s so hard to feel great hurt and not allow it to take over. But, I know & believe that if go to God with our hurts & allow Him access to them, He will heal our hearts and give us the peace & grace to accept what is and the strength to take one day at a time.
Let’s challenge ourselves to allow God to cover us with love and be our comfort. I believe God will honor our efforts to trust Him.

… here’s to getting through the day even when we’re disappointed, hurting, & not feeling our best.

… oh it’s not so bad

Ya know……. It’s not that bad. Life.

Yes, we struggle and we go through the most painful experiences, we’re hit with the hardest of hard times.

And, honestly. Sometimes it is that bad. Sometimes, it just plain stinks.

But, if we keep trusting and keep moving, we see that there is always another side to the pain and heartbreak.

If we bind our hearts to his.
If we never give up hope.
If we get up after we’ve fallen.
If we focus on people and other things besides ourselves.
If we serve.
And, pray.
And, read.
And, commit to enduring and persevering.

Life will move on.

If we don’t remain stuck in the past.
Harbor negative emotions, feelings, memories, regrets.
If we allow forgiveness to free us.
By forgiving ourselves and others.

We can move on right along with it.

We just have to move.
We have to trust that God has much better plans.
Believe that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Know that all things work together for good. (Even when we get ourselves in messes!)
Know that our God is a redeemer.
That our Lord can make something beautiful of the ashes.
That His grace abounds.
His mercies are new.
And, that His love is everlasting.

With Christ all things are possible.
We can overcome any situation or painful situation.

We just have to trust and have faith. Seek God.
And, allow ourselves to see His hands moving on our behalf.

He is able to abundantly more than we can ask or think!
But, while we wait….. He’s given is gifts and talents that we are to use to further his kingdom.
To declare His goodness and His glory. To use to encourage, support, and love on His people.

Our God really is good.

… Here’s to trusting that what He says is true and embracing the situations He puts is in to teach that!
